Car sales expected to show decline for month - Jewocity.com (press release) (blog)

Fiat Chrysler Automobile (NYSE:FCAU) reported a 2% rise in sales to 201,672 units, its best August since 2002. Hyundai’s sales were up 3 percent thanks to its new Santa Fe SUV. Ram also saw a sales increase, 6 percent. Sales of the Chrysler 200 were up 30 percent in August, the mid-size sedan’s best August sales since 2012. Nissan’s sales were flat. In July, China passenger-vehicle sales fell for a second consecutive month. Through July, sales there gained 7 percent, according to LMC Automotive, a data firm. Another interesting tidbit from the F-Series is that the EcoBoost engine option represented 63% of F-150 retail sales in August. The Compass’ 58 percent increase was the largest year-over-year percentage gain of any Jeep brand model for the month. In a note to clients ahead of the report, Bank of America Merrill Lynch said, “Sales have been somewhat range bound lately, with continued gains in light truck sales offset by lackluster auto sales”.
