The East Hampton Police Department has identified the man accused of fleeing a crash after hitting a Pumpkintown USA employee while he was directing traffic for the hay rides on Tuesday afternoon. Jason Parent, 28, was arrested after police said his 2002 Hyundai XG350 hit a 2002 Ford Focus on Route 66, and the impact from the crash caused the Focus to hit an employee at Paul's & Sandy's Too directing traffic. Police said after the crash, Parent fled the scene. The Focus was stopped on Route 66 for the man who was acting as a crossing guard for the Pumpkintown hay ride when police said the Hyundai XG350 rear-ended the Focus. Parent was charged with two counts of evading responsibility as well as one count of operating with a suspended license, following too closely and distracted driving. Officials with the Department of Motor Vehicles said Parent has never had a driver's license or even a learners permit. The crash remains under investigation by the East Hampton Police Department.
