Suspect accused of hit-and-run crash near Pumpkintown never had license - WFSB

The East Hampton Police Department has identified the man accused of fleeing a crash after hitting a Pumpkintown USA employee while he was directing traffic for the hay rides on Tuesday afternoon. Jason Parent, 28, was arrested after police said his 2002 Hyundai XG350 hit a 2002 Ford Focus on Route 66, and the impact from the crash caused the Focus to hit an employee at Paul's & Sandy's Too directing traffic. Police said after the crash, Parent fled the scene. The Focus was stopped on Route 66 for the man who was acting as a crossing guard for the Pumpkintown hay ride when police said the Hyundai XG350 rear-ended the Focus. Parent was charged with two counts of evading responsibility as well as one count of operating with a suspended license, following too closely and distracted driving. Officials with the Department of Motor Vehicles said Parent has never had a driver's license or even a learners permit. The crash remains under investigation by the East Hampton Police Department. Robert Linardo, 19, of the 100 block of Figurea Avenue, also told police he had imbibed Grey Goose vodka and "two Jack and Cokes" before getting behind the wheel, police allege.
