Both engines are governed by a new 8-speed automatic transmission with “ECO” auto start/stop technology that shuts the engine off while stopped at a red light for no emission discharge or fuel waste at idle. Fuel economy for the Drive-E T5 yields 24 miles per gallon/city and 31 mpg/highway, while T6 variants achieve 22 mpg/city and 30 mpg/hwy. Drive-E is featured across Volvo’s mid-year 2015 front-wheel drive only product line. For 2016, Drive-E will be available in the Volvo XC90 and XC60 sport and crossover utilities vehicles equipped with AWD. With that, I tested the 2015. 5 Volvo XC60 T6 with AWD delivered from a 3. 0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged 6-cylinder engine that builds 300 horsepower paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
