Tanker trucker dies; freeway-closing crashes multiply - Detroit Free Press

The driver of the tanker truck involved in a fiery crash Thursday that left northbound I-75 closed at the Southfield Freeway has died. Roddy Blaine Winn, 53, of Detroit had been in the burn unit at Detroit Receiving Hospital with burns over 90% of his body following the 3:20 a. m. crash, according to Michigan State Police spokesman 1st Lt. Michael Shaw. Corrigan Oil Co. , based in Brighton, described the loss of its longtime employee in a written statement. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of a longtime member of the Corrigan family,” Mike Corrigan, president of Corrigan Oil, said in the statement. “Corrigan Oil has been family owned for over 50 years and considers every employee to be a part of that family. Shaw said the crash, near the border of Lincoln Park and Melvindale, was the fault of the driver, although officials did not have an exact cause. The truck was heading south hauling 8,000 gallons of gasoline when the driver lost control, struck the median wall and went into the northbound lanes, Shaw said. The crash marks the third fiery tanker crash that closed a major Detroit-area roadway this year. Source: www.freep.com

Ford Motor Co. has redesigned its pickup truck with an all-new look for 2015. The latest Ford F-150 Limited has is a bit luxurious, with new technology features that have never been used before. The American automaker wants people to overlook the Lincoln Mark LT, which was never built. On its rear, the truck has been given an all-new look as well, with a stylish body-colored bumper, and a chrome panel with the automaker’s identity stamped on it. The F-150 front and rear end lights have been redone to give it a muscular look. Standard feature of this truck will include cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, LED headlights, remote start, power running boards, and remote tailgate release. Consumers who wish to purchase the F-150 with added features will gain access to a 360-degree camera system, lane-keep assist, and dynamic trailer hitch assist. This feature allows the pickup to steer itself and which assists the driver in parking. If one looks at the interior of the F-150 Limited, they'll find that Ford has replaced the previous MyFord Touch system with an all-new Sync 3 infotainment system.
