Intoxicated assault victim reports Jeep stolen - Myrtle Beach Sun News

An intoxicated 47-year-old woman told police a man who assaulted her also took her car after she went to sleep, according to a police report. Myrtle Beach officers were called about 2:35 a. m. Tuesday to the Ocean Blue Hotel at 2709 Ocean Blvd, where the victim reported her 2014 Jeep Patriot stolen, authorities said. The victim told police that the suspect had taken her keys earlier that night and that she believed at some point he had left with her Jeep. Police said the victim was intoxicated and told them she had gone to sleep for some time before waking up and realizing her Jeep was gone. Source: www.myrtlebeachonline.com

Toledo lands Wrangler, will lose Cherokee - Port Clinton News Herald

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has found a way to keep the iconic Jeep Wrangler in Toledo, but it involves the loss of the next-generation Jeep Cherokee, according to a report Tuesday. The automaker plans to move production of the Wrangler to the north side of its Toledo Assembly Complex, where the Cherokee is currently made, and launch the Wrangler there. That means the company must find a new home for the the Cherokee, one of the automaker’s most popular vehicles. The decision was first reported today by Automotive News, which said FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne explained the rationale for the decision in an Aug. “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist (to know) that the only way I can move around the Wrangler is to move it into the other Toledo plant. A person familiar with the automaker’s plans said the automaker is unlikely to announce its decision until contract talks with the UAW are complete and until the company’s internal approval process is complete. Dave Sullivan, an analyst with AutoPacific, said keeping Wrangler in Toledo and moving Cherokee to another plant is the solution that makes the most sense for the company. Sullivan also said the automaker’s plant in Belvidere is best suited to handle the Jeep Cherokee, which is a big seller for the company. I drove the Jeep Patriot a thousand miles before grasping its appeal. For all intents and purposes, the Patriot is firmly rooted in a previous generation. Yet, each year, Patriot sales surpass the previous year’s sales. At $17,891 (including freight), and $19,991 for AWD models, Patriot is the lowest-priced crossover in the U. S. . When ordered with the $1,125 Freedom II Off-Road Group, it’s also one of the most capable. Freedom II adds low-range gearing, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, tow hooks, all-terrain tires, a full-size spare and skid plates. But are these reasons enough to explain the Patriot’s popularity. If you’ve driven a small crossover lately, you’ll know that hoods have largely disappeared from the driver’s view, driven downward by aerodynamics and fashion. But the Patriot wears its hood proudly. In fact, with its upright, seven-bar grille and square-bodied stance, the Patriot carries more than a hint of traditional Jeep styling.
