NEW YORK (AP) The Minnesota Lynx came into the season as the prohibitive favorite to win their third WNBA championship in five seasons. ''We're still just trying to get everything going,'' Maya Moore said after the team lost to New York on Friday night. The reigning MVP shot 48 percent from the field last season, but is converting only 42 percent this year. Part of Minnesota's woes lately is an injury to Seimone Augustus. She's missed the team's last four games with a left foot injury. ''It's getting better, but I'm still day-to-day,'' Augustus said. Augustus was hard-pressed to remember a time when the Lynx scuffled as much as they have been lately - especially since drafting Moore with the top pick in 2011. ''It's definitely been a while,'' Augustus said. Minnesota (20-10) also lost point guard Lindsay Whalen in Sunday's win over Phoenix. ''It was already concerning going into the game, she's been booted for a little while,'' Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve said. Stamford man charged with stealing car from gas station - The Advocate

STAMFORD — A city man was charged early Friday morning with stealing a car at an East Side gas station and ditching the vehicle less than a block away, police said. Kelly Connelly said a car owner pulled up to a gas pump at Gulf Express at 1125 East Main St. just after midnight and walked into the convenience store. When he came out a few minutes later his 2011 gray Honda Pilot was gone. A witness told police that he saw a Hispanic man with tattoos on his neck walk up to a trash can next to the car and throw away two license plates. The witness then saw the man get into the Pilot and drive it away, moments before the owner exited the store. Connelly said Maldonado first claimed he was home when the Pilot stolen. But as police were about to seize a videotape of the car being taken from the gas station, Maldonado admitted to stealing it and offered to show officers where the keys were, Connelly said. Connelly said the video shows Maldonado getting into the car after throwing his license plates away and driving off in the Honda. Source: www.stamfordadvocate.com
