Sorry, if you base you car buying decision on whether it has CarPlay or not there is something wrong. We get it there will be more and more cars with it. That may be wrong to you, but it is important to me. The car I have for 24 months pretty much stays as is from the day I get it. Before anyone says it. I do not need advice on leasing vs buying or how people think it is a waste. I like to have a new car every few years and never worry about maintenance. Sorry, if you base you car buying decision on whether it has CarPlay or not there is something wrong. Why can't someone have CarPlay as a buying decision, why does it offend you so much. I have a number of things I'm looking for in a new car and yes CarPlay is one of them. Technology is becoming an ever more important part of a car and I want the best, as in something built my Software people, not car makers. Boy, America really do like to make fugly cars. You don’t have to be Marshall McLuhan to realize that this electronic bouquet would be totally forgettable except for what they call in the news biz the “angle”: the young man is black, the officer white (Whoa. Had this been white-on-white assistance, or a white parent thanking a policeman, white or black, it is safe to assume that there would be a whole lot less hullabaloo attached to the Facebook shout out. But make the cop white and the young man black, and stand back for lift off. The kid’s mom thanked him on social media. Chad Hanson’s May 23 opinion piece in The Union exposes his gibberish for the retention of vast expanses of dead trees, “snag forests,” for wildlife following high intensity fires. At least he now admits scientists conclude retaining “patches,” not huge areas, of high intensity burned forests benefits wildlife. But the dirty little secret Hanson won’t reveal: most U. S. Forest Service and other federally managed public lands severely burned remain as snag forests anyway. Hanson knows this, but he wants all harvesting on public lands stopped, even a mere 20 to 30 percent of the dead trees. For years Hanson tried to petition endangered species status for the Black-backed woodpecker, Picoides arcticus, (yes, arcticus as in arctic). Most of this species’ home range resides in Alaska and Canada but includes a band running down the Cascades and along the high elevations of the Sierra. Hanson alleges Black-backed woodpeckers are “dependent” on beetles munching dead trees following western slope Sierra wildfires. But if “dependent” on huge fires, how do they survive when no fires occur nearby. His singular motivation is to use the Black-backed woodpecker to stop all salvage logging on federally managed public forests.
