Old Patrol gone within 18 months - Motoring

The legendary Y61 Nissan Patrol will no longer sold in Australia within 18 months, leaving the way clear for a new NP300 Navara ute-based wagon to replace it and become the company’s new seven-seat, turbo-diesel, heavy-duty SUV option. Both the wagon and the cab-chassis versions of the Y61 are set to disappear, leaving the larger and more luxurious Y62 Patrol that has been on sale here since early 2013, but only with a V8 petrol engine. The Navara-based off-road wagon is yet to be officially confirmed by Nissan, but is spoken of matter-of-factly by Emery. He has previously made it clear it was under serious consideration for Australia , but stresses the spiritual successor to the original Pathfinder would only come here if the business case stacked up. Emery said fitting it into an already crowded... However, there is some differentiation as the Pathfinder is a light-duty off-roader and is offered only with petrol engines, although one of those is a fuel-saving petrol-electric option. “Having a diesel-based seven-seat tow vehicle – which is where Y61 has been really successful for us – means it (the Navara-based wagon) would give us an opportunity to retain those traditional Y61 buyers in the brand," he said.   The Ford Ranger, codenamed T6, is a mid-size pickup truck produced by Ford, first unveiled in October 2010, at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney. The T6 replaces two regional Ranger platforms: the Mazda BT-50-derived model sold in the Latin America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions and the North American model sold in select Latin American markets.[2]

  Although the T6 Ranger is sold in 180 countries, it is not currently planned to be sold in Canada and the United States,[3] due to the new platform being too close in size and cost to the F-150, and due to overall declining sales of compact pickups in North America. However, it is offered in the Middle East, Mexico, Suriname, Ecuador, Peru, the Netherlands (Aruba, Curaçao, and St. Marteen), the Cayman Islands and most Caribbean countries in addition to the F-150.[4][5] However the Ranger isn't sold alongside the Ford F-Series in Iceland. Ford initially planned a mid-size truck based on a modified F-150 chassis for the North American market named the F-100;[6] however, this was shelved in favour of offering the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine on the F-150. Additionally, American and Canadian safety and emissions standards as well as the long-standing 25% import tariff imposed on non-American built light trucks prevent the T6 Ranger from being imported into North America; however, the 3.2L Duratorq is being adapted for North American consumption as a Power Stroke engine in the 2015 Ford Transit.   Parker's Car Guides announced that the Ranger was to receive a face-lift in 2015,[12] along with the possible replacement of the 2.2 litre Duratorq with an all new 2 litre 'Panther' engine.[13]

  Ford Everest[edit]

  Ford revealed the concept for the next-generation Ford Everest in August 2013. The Everest SUV features Kinetic Design cues similar to the EcoSport, Kuga/Escape, and the next-generation Edge.[14] The vehicle will be offered in both rear wheel drive and four wheel drive, matted either to the 2.5L Duratec petrol or the 3.2L Duratorq turbo diesel. Presently, there are no plans to offer the Everest outside of the Asia-Pacific markets; in North America, the Everest overlaps with the Explorer, Flex, and Expedition in terms of size and cost as well as seating, cargo, and towing capacity.[15][16]
