Behind the Scenes: 2016 Jaguar F-Type R vs Ford Mustang GT Review [Video] - TFLcar.com

TFLcar recently mashed up a 2015 Ford Mustang GT against a 2016 Jaguar F-Type R convertible around the track at IMI Motorsports Park in Dacono, Colo. TFL test driver and IndyCar racer Justin Wilson takes Roman Mica around the track in both cars, describing how each car performs in this can’t-miss video. Like all new F-Types, the test car uses Jaguar’s all-wheel-drive system, which is a rear-biased system that can send nearly half the power to the front wheels when needed, but is designed to respond like rear wheel drive. Unlike the Ford, the Jaguar has an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. In the track test video , the Jaguar came out on top both on lap times and in the drag race, but the Mustang held its own despite the large price gap. Wilson credits the new Mustang’s independent rear suspension that keeps the car more planted mid-turn and eliminates the old car’s tendency to drift around corners. Ford has patented an autonomous car that can transform into a lounge while driving - Business Insider

This month, the United States Patent and Trademark Office approved a patent application from a group of Ford employees for an "autonomous car with reconfigurable seats. It's the latest step in Ford's move into the world of self-driving cars, and it comes on the heels of the company's launch of an advanced engineering program headed by the company's Research and Innovation Center in Palo Alto, California. This means that when the car is in autonomous mode, the passenger cabin can be converted into a lounge or a more socially conducive setting — turning the average family sedan into a road-going private jet. In another layout, the front seats can fold in the footwells, creating an ottoman on which the rear-seat passengers can rest their feet. Even better, the patent says all of this reconfiguration can be done while the car is traveling down the road in autonomous mode. Still, even with novel patents on what a self-driving car could look like, Ford still seems well behind some of its competitors in this area. Audi, BMW, and Volvo all have fully autonomous technology in development that can function without any input from the driver — with cars already being tested on public roads. Ford's F-150 Is a Hit: So Why Is Ford Stock so Low? - Investorplace.com

Ford Motor ( F ) has a huge hit in the new aluminum-bodied F-150 pickup, some healthy margins and record quarterly profit in The States, so what gives with Ford stock. Ford got a nice boost on the second-quarter earnings news, but the stock is still negative for the year-to-date. And Ford’s forward price to earnings multiple of less than 8 is ominously low. That ultra-low P/E is the Street’s way of saying that it has a pessimistic view of the risk-reward potential of Ford stock. Although this isn’t particular to just Ford, as General Motors ( GM ) also changes hands at about 8 times forward earnings. While sure it’s true that stocks become cheap because of an underlying business issue, but the Ford earnings report on Tuesday was good enough to show that Ford stock is indeed a bargain, not a value trap. After all, the consensus is that Ford stock is a second-half story. Good news for Ford: gas is cheap. Yet in spite of all this, Ford stock is still languishing.
