Remember the Hummer? GM is recalling it - USA TODAY

It may have been a long time since you thought about the Hummer, the oversized SUV that made General Motors the target of environmentalists. Though the brand may have long since been discontinued, Hummers are still rolling around out there — and now it's being recalled. GM is pulling back nearly 200,000 Hummer SUVs worldwide because ventilation fan motor controls can overheat and possibly start a fire. The automaker also will recall about 51,000 Chevrolet Spark and Sonic models to repair a problem with the radio software that can lock the display screen in the OnStar navigation mode. The company says the module that controls the heating and air conditioning blower motor speed can overheat when operated for a long time, melting nearby plastic and increasing the risk of a fire. GM said it is unaware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to the Spark and Sonic radio problem. GM shut down production of Hummers in 2010 after a proposed sale to a Chinese company fell through. Source: www.usatoday.com

Anna's Linens to close Waco store, 250 others - Waco Tribune-Herald

The Waco store at Bosque Boulevard and Wooded Acres Drive, in the shopping center anchored by Target Greatland, is among more than 250 to be shuttered nationwide by the company that has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Cole Brodhead, who markets the Lake Air Mall shopping center that houses Anna’s Linens, said he already is talking to prospects about the 11,000-square-foot space. He said he does not yet know when Anna’s Linens will completely vacate the spot. It added 127 new locations between 2001 and 2005, and dozens more in 2006. By 2013, it had grown to 309 locations, and in its bankruptcy filing in June it blamed overexpansion and changing public tastes for its increased debt and a default on its... The bankruptcy filing lists $72 million in inventory assets and about $100 million in debt. David Golubchik, a Los Angeles attorney representing Anna’s Linens in the bankruptcy case, said the chain may resurface at some point under new ownership. “The effort here is to bring the name back and get the stores operating again with another operator, because the name is still available and we have leases on the locations,” Golubchik told the Chicago Tribune.
