Audi has confirmed that its super-hot hatch, the new 2016 Audi RS3 Sportback , will hit Australia in October, priced from $78,900 plus on-road costs. No surprise that the hot Audi will be aimed directly at Mercedes-AMG’s mean A45 , although buyers looking to the Merc will save around $3200 – unless the newly updated version wears a heavier price tag when it lands in December or January. Audi isn’t expecting the RS3 ’s price premium to deter many buyers, though, with the the new hatch likely to be the most popular offering in the RS range. So popular, in fact, that the local Audi arm expects the new RS3 Sportback to at least double the current total sales haul of the entire RS range in Australia. The new arrival also supplants the $81,510 RSQ3 SUV as Australia’s most affordable RS model, while easily undercutting the larger $151,010 RS 4 Avant wagon.
