Bicyclist training for Pelotonia seriously hurt in hit-skip - Columbus Dispatch

That’s what Sue White wants to know, after her son, Brian T. White, was hit on his bicycle this week while training for his second Pelotonia. White, an avid cyclist, was riding a popular biking route in rural Licking County – on Sportsman Club Road, about a half-mile from Rt. 62 – about 8 p. m. on Thursday when he was struck from behind by a pickup truck that kept going. It’s believed that the truck was traveling about 55 mph when it hit White, throwing him into a field. Brian White, 48, of Pickerington, was in serious condition tonight at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, suffering from numerous broken bones, including both his legs and an arm, said Sgt. Sue White said that when her son was able to first talk with her from his hospital room, he said, “Mom, I am so blessed I am alive. Cycling is her son’s passion and he is known to take long rides whenever he can, Sue White said. Brian White was planning to go on the 100-mile ride from Columbus to Gambier next weekend.
