The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires companies to give each employee at least 60 days’ written notice of a closure. The flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico stopped after BP installed a 75-ton cap on the biggest offshore oil spill in U. S. history, a catastrophe that killed wildlife and threatened livelihoods of fishermen, restaurateurs and oil industry workers... The undersea leak began April 20 after an explosion on the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon oil rig that killed 11 workers.
