A fatal motor vehicle accident was reported Friday night on Timbertop Road in ... - Monadnock Ledger Transcript

Former Rindge Police Chief David Collum was killed in a fatal motor vehicle accident Friday. Collum, 72, of Rindge was driving his 2003 Ford F-350 on Route 124 near Timbertop Road in New Ipswich around 4 p. m. Friday, when he sustained a “serious medical event” moments prior to the crash, according to police reports. Collum was pronounced dead at the scene. An 11-year-old boy in the vehicle some in the community said is Collum’s grandson, but police have not disclosed his identity. Collum, a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, served as both police chief and selectman in Rindge, and will be remembered by those close to him as someone who always made the people around him feel better. According to Stone, Collum was heavily involved in the community and was a big family man. Stone, former principal of Rindge Memorial School, said Collum was very active in the lives of his grandchildren, too. “His family was always close to him,” said Stone. Collum was preceded in death by his father, David Collum, and is survived by his mother, Irene Kelley of Natick, Massachusetts. his wife of 48 years, Margaret Collum of Rindge. his son, David J.
