DARTMOUTH – A Dartmouth man celebrated his 40th anniversary Thursday, but it was not with his spouse — it was with a truck he bought in 1974. Rick Gautreau owns a Ford F-100 Super Cab Ranger truck that he’s lovingly kept on the road for four... “Forty years ago, I walked in and signed the papers and purchased the truck,” he said. Gautreau said he wanted the truck from the moment he saw it sitting up on a rack at a car dealership. When Gautreau climbs in his truck and starts the original motor, it still runs smoothly, despite nearly 500,000 miles of wear. ‘Duncan’ has served Gautreau well over the years, and he has returned the favor by keepings it undercoated, and every 10 years, giving the truck a makeover. The truck is due for bodywork and a paint job in the spring, but Gautreau said he’s not thinking about replacing it anytime soon. “There’s no need, because he keeps fulfilling the jobs that he was bought to do,” he said, suggesting the truck might outlast him. Ford recognized Gautreau 20 years ago by sending him a jacket and a certificate for $500 off the next purchase of a Ford vehicle. Source: globalnews.ca

El histórico Bar Rodney, lugar de reunión de músicos como Charly García, Juanse y Cristian “Pity” Alvarez, que motivó los títulos de un filme y de un tema de La Portuaria, reabrirá el martes próximo sus puertas en el barrio porteño de Chacarita. El Bar Rodney, tras un año de permanecer clausurado, reabrirá sus puertas el martes a las 20 con la presencia de músicos que frecuentaban el lugar, ubicado frente al cementerio de Chacarita. Aunque su apertura fue en la década de 1930 dentro del rubro almacén de ramos generales con despacho de bebidas, en 1978 el dueño de la propiedad, Ramón Quintana, decidió transformarlo en bar respetando su arquitectura original. Por su popularidad, el Bar Rodney también se convirtió en set de filmación de varios comerciales para la televisión y en ese lugar el ex Talking Heads David Byrne y el vocalista de La Portuaria Diego Frenkel (foto) grabaron el video “Hoy no le... Precisamente Frenkel es también coautor con Christian Basso, ambos de La Portuaria, del tema “El bar de la calle Rodney”, que lanzaron en 1991 y que tiene un videoclip filmado con la gente habitué de ese lugar.
