Skip the dealership? Scion offers online purchase option - Windsor Star (blog)

The world’s largest automaker has launched an online-purchasing program in the U. S. that enables customers to conduct both the shopping experience and financing process online. “Millennials are used to buying pretty much anything with one click,” said Nancy Hubbell, spokeswoman for Toyota’s Scion brand. It has since grown to 60 participating U. S. dealers, with about 150 out of 1,000 dealers expected to join by the end of 2016, said Hubbell. The automaker plans to expand the online shopping tool to its Toyota brand in six to 12 months, although there are no plans to export it into Canada. “Canada and the U. S. are different markets, and Scion Canada’s business model for pricing aims to meet the needs of our Canadian consumers,” said Alice Young Jeon, spokeswoman for Toyota Canada. “An example of this commitment is in the Scion dealer expansion earlier this year — with the total of 95 Scion dealerships in Canada brought to 145 as of July — allowing the brand to reach new customers in markets where the brand is not yet... In conjunction with the robust online tools that allow our customers to make a well-informed decision when making purchase decisions, Scion Canada is seeking to engage and connect with Canadians in different ways.
