“The F-Type is just the car that Jaguar needs, something more than the familiar blend of grace and performance. Jaguar badly needed the F-Type to shake up the marketplace, get people talking, looking, gawking. The 2015 Jaguar F-Type S coupe has proven up to the task of handling the slog through the smog. There are some annoyances, one of which is the Eco feature that defaults to “on” whenever you start the car. The stop-start, while likely saving a couple of swallows of gas here and there, isn’t exactly graceful on startup and should be switched off -- especially in the stop-start of the infamous I-405 freeway. I’ll beat this dead horse one more time for the cheap seats: The F-Type could use a navi-infotainment upgrade. Jaguar’s new InControl system is coming soon, and it’s loaded with new features including enhanced smartphone connectivity, apps for music, and more. Yes, I know sports car drivers shouldn’t care, but I’m here to report the cupholders do their job and have deftly handled the all-important 6 a. m. coffee cup duties. The 2015 Jaguar F-Type S coupe can also handle a set of golf clubs in the back, one big luggage case, and a week’s worth of groceries -- separately, of course.
