Washington — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into Chrysler's recall of nearly 1 million Dodge Ram trucks for steering issues, prompted more than 1,000 complaints from owners seeking faster repairs. In November, Chrysler Group LLC told NHTSA it was issuing two recalls covering about 970,000 2003-2012 Ram trucks because tie rods could crack causing a loss of steering control and crashes.
