Trucks show off horsepower at Schuylkill County Fair - Republican & Herald

Diesel trucks lined up to pull an about 20,000-pound sled down a 350-foot track and to drag race against each other. The drag racing is a new event to the Schuylkill County Fair this year, while this was the third year for the pulling event at the fair. There were three categories for the pulling: work stock, stock and modified. A work stock entry is a truck bought off the dealer lot without modifications. The truck can weigh a maximum of 8,500 pounds. The stock, also a maximum of 8,500 pounds, has minor modifications, while the modified, a maximum of 8,200 pounds, has additional changes to the vehicle. Drag racing categories were work stock and stock. Madeline Bartush, 19, of Orwigsburg, showed off her red 2015 F350 when she drove it in the pulling event in the work stock category. The truck has an automatic transmission and a 6. 7-liter engine and 475 horsepower. Despite never having pulled before, she went 312. 64 feet, enough for third place in the division. Black smoke entered the night sky when Nate Faust, 26, of Hamburg, drove his automatic transmission 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 in the stock category. Drag racing followed the pull event.
