The Bay Port baseball team can pack its bags for the WIAA Division 1 state tournament. The Pirates beat Green Bay Preble 5-1 in a sectional championship at VandenPlas Field on Tuesday afternoon, earning a trip to state for the fourth straight year and the 12th time overall. They will play Oconomowoc in a state quarterfinal at 1 p. m. Tuesday at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, the stadium in which they won back-to-back state titles in 2009 and 2010. Bay Port had beaten Preble by a combined 25-1 in two meetings this season, but this took far more work to get done. In a lineup dominated by seniors, it was sophomore Quinn Pierner who finally got Bay Port on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. His two-out RBI single to right field made it 1-0 in what at that point had been a pitching duel between Preble sophomore right-hander Griffin Summers and Bay Port senior right-hander Joe Baier.
