Test Drive: Jaguar XE has 22 ways to personalise it - Birmingham Post
With Jaguar XE models finally in the hands of the first owners, the Birmingham-based company has stepped up its challenge to the premier German marques. Jaguar enthusiasts keen to buy British have been waiting a long time for a new “baby” Jag and now there’s not one but 22 to choose from. Twenty two possible permutations, that is, made up of five different spec levels and a choice of five different engines, from the super frugal 163bhp 2. 0-litre diesel to the blisteringly quick 3. 0-litre, 340bhp model which comes in S spec only. All but the range-topping six-cylinder 3. 0-litre model have four-cylinder engines and all come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, although on the two diesel models there’s also a six-speed manual box available as an option, saving £1,750. I... Whichever one you opt for, however, you will soon realise that the term “baby” Jaguar is somewhat of a misnomer as the new car offers generous interior space for five people. In fact, in isolation it doesn’t look that much smaller than the not dissimilar award-winning Jaguar XF. And, as expected from Jaguar, the quality of the interior is on a par.
