Jaguar XJ220 and Lotus Sunbeam top the many strong sales at Silverstone Auctions' 2014 NEC Classic Motor Show sale. Silverstone Auctions sold £4. 5m worth of cars at its 2014 NEC Classic Motor Show, with a Jaguar XJ220 selling for a headline £247,500 figure. Often considered undervalued when compared to contemporaries like the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959, this is thought to be the highest price ever paid for an XJ220 at auction. Originally owned by the Royal Family of Brunei, this particular metallic green XJ220 was sold with a little less than 6000 miles on the clock. With the mechanicals sorted by Don Law – a highly regarded expert on the XJ220 – this is one of the finest examples offered for sale recently. Proving that the market for nicely presented Land Rovers is still thriving, the sale also saw a beautifully restored 1951 Series 1 80-inch sell for £38,250.
