Under the XJ’s skin, the flagship features new electric power steering, which Jaguar claims increases responsiveness and steering speed compared to the outgoing hydraulic-assist system, although it is offered only on rear-wheel drive models. Even those become more capable than ever on slippery surfaces, with Jaguar’s new All-Surface traction control system that was introduced on the XF. The 2016 Jaguar XJ also continues to offer driver aids including adaptive cruise control, oncoming vehicle alert, reverse traffic detection, 360-degree surround camera, and semi-automated self-parking system on rear-wheel drive models. Offered in both rear- and all-wheel drive, it is powered by a carryover same 3. 0-liter supercharged V-6, pushing out 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The XJ Supercharged and XJL Supercharged are both powered by a 5. 0-liter supercharged V-8, which churns out 470 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque.
