Five injured after dust storm crashes near Prosser - Mid Columbia Tri City Herald

A dust storm led to a five-vehicle collision Friday evening in the same area south of Prosser as a crash that occurred less than two hours before, according to the Washington State Patrol. A 1988 Ford pickup, driven by Seth E. Shinn, 28, of Kennewick, struck a 2003 Infiniti G35 and a 2015 Freightliner semitruck that had stopped at 5:26 p. m. along Highway 221 near County Well Road because of the dust storm, the state patrol said. An Infiniti driven by Jonathan A. Vega, 17, of Plymouth, was then struck by a 2015 Ford F250 pickup driven by Michael C. Newton, 58, of Benton City, the state patrol said. Vega was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, along with passengers Francisco J. Vega, 24, and Armani J. Vega, 5, both of Plymouth. Shinn, Newton, Maas and Stephen R. Nichols, 48, of Perry, Utah, the driver of the Freightliner, were not injured, the state patrol said. Riddle was driving a Dodge north on Highway 221 when she crashed into the back of a Subaru Forester driven by Mendez, the state patrol said. Source: www.tri-cityherald.com
