DAMASCUS, Md. (MarketWatch) – There is a reason they call vehicles like these sport utility vehicles, with the term sport coming first. It was for vehicles like the Infiniti FX50 S. I am just back after a daylong fun run to Western Maryland over my favorite back roads, where it was possible to enjoy the ample power and crisp handling in this Ute from Nissan’s upmarket division. This devil just loved the sharp turns, steep hills and deep valleys that make up routes from Cumberland, Md. , to Berkeley Springs, W. Va. The smaller than usual leather-clad steering wheel imparts a sporty touch to the Ute even before you fire up... Huge steering column-mounted paddle shifts, done right, with up shifts to the right and down shifts to the left, also embrace the sporty feel. Floor this bugger and you are pushed into the confines of the leather-clad sport seat in an instant and whatever you were trying to pass becomes a distant memory. Engage the “sport” button on the center console, hit the oldies channel on the Bose audio system, and you are set to go. The button stiffens steering, suspension and other vital items to make the owner forget that this rig will also carry four...
