EVs are about to get way more expensive in Denmark - Autoblog (blog)
We had an election for the parliament a month ago and a new government was elected. They really do not know what to do about car taxes yet. It is true that the EV tax exemption runs out by 2016. If they do nothing, there will be tax on EVs. The EV tax exemption always had a time limit of 3 years. Every third year the parliament has voted on extending that another 3 years. The only new thing here is that this time around several parties have voiced they want a vehicle tax reform instead of a simple extension. Nobody knows how much tax an EV has to pay if we get a reform. But one thing is for sure, EVs will continue to get a tax credit, like other cars with low CO2 print also do. A Tesla might become more expensive, but it will not be $223,000. Our right wing nitwits. they were only in government for a couple of days before they singled out electric cars which is budget wise a non existing issue. As much as our country is atypically and embarrassingly behind on EVs, making the taxation on EVs very high will look bad even to the mindless masses. Especially considering the cheap gas cars are almost tax exempt right now. Source: www.autoblog.com
