2013 Infiniti QX56, 2014 QX80 Recalled for Takata Airbag Problem: Stop-Sale ... - Edmunds.com
WASHINGTON — Nissan North America is recalling 1,848 2013 Infiniti QX56 and 2014 Infiniti QX80 SUVs for a problem with airbags supplied by Takata , according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration . Nissan issued a stop-sale order... Infiniti told federal safety regulators that this new recall "is unrelated to two earlier campaigns that involved Takata passenger front airbag inflators on some older model Infiniti vehicles. "Infiniti is unaware of any injuries that may have been caused by this issue," wrote Infiniti spokesman Kyle Bazemore, in response to a query from Edmunds. The automaker said in federal documents that the vehicles are safe to drive, but it is encouraging dealers to provide loaner vehicles. "If a client brings their vehicle to the retailer and is afraid to drive it, after learning of the recall, retailers should provide them a vehicle to use until their vehicle can be repaired," the automaker told NHTSA. "If the vehicle is not at the retailer, arrangement should be made to pick up the client's vehicle and a loaner vehicle dropped off for the client to use. Source: www.edmunds.com
