Cocaine smuggler gets 5-year prison sentence - Laredo Morning Times
Lara pleaded guilty April 8 to possession with intent to distribute cocaine in excess of 5 kilograms. 31 with 40 pounds of cocaine, an affidavit states. The narcotics had an estimated street value of $511,280. That morning, Lara arrived at Lincoln-Juarez International Bridge as a passenger in a 2008 Jeep Liberty. Inside them agents said they found 16 bundles of cocaine. In a post-arrest interview, Lara told special agents he was to deliver the cocaine in Dallas and return to Mexico with $16,000.
