BAY CITY, MI — Police investigating a crash in which a Jeep rolled over several times on Interstate 75 in Bay County, say six children were unsecured and sitting with an adult in the cargo area of the vehicle at the time of the accident. 26, a black 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading north on I-75 near Kitchen Road through Fraser Township when it veered across two lanes of traffic and rolled four to five times before landing on its roof in the median, Bay County Undersheriff... Beside her was a 75-year-old man and the passenger seat behind the driver contained the driver's 27-year-old fiancé, Cunningham said. In the cargo area located behind the back seat were six children and a 26-year-old woman, Cunningham said. The 27-year-old male is the father of two of the children, boys ages 6 and 9. The mother of the other four children — ages 3, 6, 8, and 9 — is the woman who was with them in the cargo area, the undersheriff said. The mother in the cargo area, the 3-year-old, and the 8-year-old were ejected from the Jeep during the crash, Cunningham said. "With the vehicle flipping that many times and with that many ejections, it's amazing there weren't any fatalities," Cunningham said. All the people hail from around Columbus, Ohio, though the driver had a suspended driver's license out of Florida, Cunningham said. Source: www.mlive.com
