Wilton collision injures both drivers - Kennebec Journal & Morning Sentinel

A Jay man was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to a Portland hospital for treatment of serious injuries after a traffic accident Monday night in Wilton, police said. Michael Whittemore, 27, was driving south around 6:30 p. m. Monday on U. S. Route 2 when he failed to yield at a stop sign near the intersection of U. S. Route 2 and Route 4, said Officer Brian Lynch, of the Wilton Police Department. Whittemore, driving a 1999 green Chevrolet pickup truck, was struck by a silver 2010 Jeep Wrangler driven by Sarah Hackett, 34, of East Dixfield. The impact caused the Jeep to spin into the median strip and roll over, Lynch said. Whittemore was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington and later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Lynch said. Source: www.centralmaine.com
