Police: One person badly hurt after car hits Jeep, crashes into building - WREX-TV

Rockford police are investigating a car crash on the city's southeast side. Around midnight Saturday, officers were called to Broadway and 21st Street for a car wreck. Police say two cars were heading west on Broadway when they collided with each other, then one of the cars crashed into an automotive repair shop. Upon arrival officers located a 48-year-old Rockford man in the roadway who had apparently been ejected from a 1999 Ford Taurus, one of the two vehicles involved in the crash. Officers also located a 21-year-old Rockford man in the backseat of the Ford Taurus. Hospital emergency room staff informed police that the 48-year-old victim had serious and potentially life-threatening injuries and that the 21-year-old victim had serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The second vehicle involved in the crash, a 2004 Jeep Wrangler, had two occupants, a 51-year-old Rockford man and a 43-year-old Rockford woman. A building inspector on the scene says the building has more than $20,000 worth of damage after being hit. Source: www.wrex.com
