Anderson County couple sentenced to decades in prison - Anderson Independent Mail

After hours of emotional testimony, Malcolm sentenced Anderson County couple Jonathon Reid Cann and Chelsea Clary to decades in prison for concealing the death of Townville resident Charles Paul Mills. Mills’ body was found in the trunk of his burning Kia Spectra last September in Elberton, Georgia, the day before his 36th birthday. Cann, 27, of Iva, and Clary, 23, of Anderson, also face murder warrants in South Carolina. District Attorney Parks White of Georgia’s Northern Judicial Circuit asked if Mills wanted to say anything more before Cann and Clary were sentenced. Karen Mills, the sister-in-law of Charles Paul Mills, said the family was left with only a small box of ashes after his death. I know the Bible says we are supposed to forgive those who have trespassed against us in order for God to forgive us. It will take a long time for this family. Ultimately, Malcolm sentenced Cann to 30 years in prison and 20 years probation, giving him more time because he had previous convictions for burglary and other crimes. The judge sentenced Clary to 20 years in prison and 10 years probation. Cann also was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, while Clary must pay a $3,000 one. Source: www.independentmail.com
