Kia looking to boost sales of Pro_cee'd GT, Rondo, Soul - CarAdvice (blog)
The Soul is simply not good enough to sell at this price point in the market now given the stiff competition from Mazda and Renault and the like. While it doesnt suffer from being unfashionable or undesirable like the Soul it suffers from a scary big sticker price which simply shuts down any consideration of purchasing one. So if they think good finance will help, I think theyre kidding themselves. Why isn’t Kia Australia bringing over the Cerato Hatch Turbo. It comes with both 5 doors and the option of auto or manual. Plus it uses the same engine in the Pro_Ceed GT, Koup Turbo and Veloster Turbo. 3 door – manual only hatch backs do not sell well in Australia. Why do you think VW Australia stopped importing the 3 door Polo GTI, Golf GTI and Golf R. Actually they do sell if not over priced and if people know about them. high price and cheap finance doesn’t work. Still to higher a starting price people walk away. Yeah, there is enough Velosters, Koups, Utes, Minis, 86s and BRZs going around to disprove the myth that Aussies won’t buy cars with two passenger doors (or 3 for Veloster). Reality is that price, features, image, reliability (reputation) and competition is what matters most. Plus, transmission options – to maximise sales in Australia you really must offer an auto in addition to manual. Source: www.caradvice.com.au
