Troup County business accuses former employee of taking bank deposit - LaGrange Daily News

A regional representative for Direct Auto Insurance in LaGrange told police Wednesday she believes a former employee stole more than $1,000 from the business. According to a report, the employee was supposed to make a deposit containing hundreds of dollars in cash plus customer’s checks made out to the company. The representative told officers the deposit was never made, the employee claims she never took the deposit, quit her job and has now disappeared. A roadside safety check landed one teen behind bars early this morning after an LPD officer found suspected marijuana in his SUV. The teen was stopped around 1 a. m. at East Render Street and Lafayette Parkway by police for having no tag on his truck. According to the report, when the officer asked the teen if there was any pot in the car, he promptly handed him a small, clear plastic baggy containing a green, leafy substance and told him there was more in the center console. The teen was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. A man exercising at Towne Fitness Club at 124C Main St. fell ill and and became unresponsive around 7:30 Wednesday night, according to LaGrange police. LaGrange Police Department Lt. Dale Strickland said an autopsy was scheduled this morning in the GBI crime lab. No foul play is suspected, but it is standard for police to investigate when a person dies unexpectedly.
