Recall Roundup: 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt, 2014-2015 Kia Soul - Automobile

The Problem : In Chevrolet Volt models produced between 2011 and 2013, there is a risk of dangerous carbon monoxide buildup as a result of idling too long in an enclosed space such as a garage. Carbon monoxide emissions would not be released while the vehicle is in all-electric mode, but if the car is left unattended for long enough to drain the battery, the gasoline engine could activate and begin producing carbon monoxide exhaust. The Problem : In Kia Soul and Soul EV vehicles bult between July 2013 and January 2015, there is a risk that an unsupported section of the accelerator pedal can bend and fracture as a result of excessive force. The Fix : Kia will notify owners of the possible defect, and dealers will install a rubber stopper that will support the section of the pedal at risk. Kia will cover the cost of repairs for owners who have already experienced broken a broken accelerator pedal. Kia is now manufacturing properly supported accelerator pedals for the Soul and Soul EV.
