Woman killed in speed-related North Fort Myers crash - The News-Press

Joyce Johnson, 85, was wearing her seatbelt when a 1998 Ford Mustang sped into her car in the northbound lanes of 41 atEvergreen Road, according to the FHP. Johnson's was driving her 2007 Honda Civic — whose license plate read: "JOYCE'S" —. Ryan Tirado, 29 of Fort Myers, was driving his Mustang north on the outside lane of US 41 "at a high rate of speed," FHP said. Tirado, who was wearing his seatbelt, went to Lee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries from the crash. Christine Collins of North Fort Myers was jogging past the Sunoco gas station on the southeastern corner of Evergreen when she witnessed the crash. "The blue Mustang blew past me so fast, I jumped and turned around just in time to see the crash," Collins said. The Mustang was cutting in and out of traffic on the northbound lanes when it smashed into the side of a silver Honda crossing the road at the intersection, witnesses said. A red 2001 Kia Spectra was also damaged in the crash, and the driver, 61-year-old Julia Schneider, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, FHP said.
