Police: Missing S.A. woman's van found in river - Corpus Christi Caller-Times
UtilContext$userObject@39c874d0 | The body of a woman was found in a sunken vehicle that drifted from shore into the Nueces River last week, police said. Police recovered a gray Kia about noon Wednesday at the Labonte Park turnaround off Interstate 37 and discovered the woman’s body inside, Senior Officer Kirk Stowers said. A Silver Alert was issued for Carter, 79, but Stowers said the search for her continues. “We do have her vehicle, there is a person inside, but we are unable to for certain identify the person,” he said. Carter was last seen in the Southwest Military Highway/Zarzamora Street area in San Antonio on June 17 in her 2008 silver four-door Kia Rondo, according to news reports. Robert Cruz, who was driving from Odem to Calallen, said the Kia’s taillights caught his attention about 9 p. m. June 17 and he called police. Recent rains prompted city officials to release water from the Wesley Seale Dam and the high current hindered the process of placing buoys under the vehicle to float it to the surface, Stowers said. “Today was their first opportunity to be able to (recover the vehicle) and do it safely,” Stowers said. Stowers said there was no obvious indication there was another person involved police are investigating the incident. Source: www.caller.com
