Cuyahoga Falls -- The Summit Metro Crash Team and Summit County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating a car accident in the city on July 31 that killed Haley Hopkins, 21, of Akron, and sent the 22-year-old female driver to the hospital. " Two members of the Summit Metro Crash Team are Cuyahoga Falls police officers, according to Davis. "They are working on the crash in conjunction with the Summit Metro Crash Team as well as BCI," he said. Hopkins, who lived on Rocky Brook Drive, died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, according to Gary Guenther, chief investigator for the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office. On July 31 at 3:39 p. m. , Akron Police along with the Akron Fire Department responded to a one-car accident along Canyon Brook Drive, west of Northampton Road, according to a Falls Police Department news release. Akron Police then notified Falls Police after determining that the accident was actually in Cuyahoga Falls. An initial investigation determined that a 22-year-old Akron woman was driving a 2011 Kia Soul and had Ms. Hopkins in the vehicle with her. The driver failed to control her vehicle, drove off the right side of the road, slid sideways and struck a tree on the passenger side, killing the passenger, the news release stated.
