Charges dropped against bus driver who lost control on ice - Republican & Herald

State police Trooper Michael Allar said Cynthia Urzillo, who is the wife of Blue Mountain Superintendent Robert Urzillo, was driving a school bus south down the “Frackville Grade” behind another bus driven by Camille Yoder, Forestville. A 2006 Kia Sportage driven by John Turner Jr. with a passenger, Megan Turner, both of Pottsville, was also traveling south. Allar said the vehicles encountered a one-vehicle crash partially blocking the road. Urzillo’s vehicle slid sideways and collided with Yoder’s stopped bus, Allar said. Urzillo then steered the vehicle toward a rock embankment on the west side of the road and hit Turner’s vehicle. Urzillo’s bus had three students from the Schuylkill Haven Area School District and Yoder’s vehicle had 15 students from Blue Mountain School District. Two students in Urzillo’s vehicle and one from Yoder’s were treated for minor injuries at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street. Allar testified Tuesday that the speed limit is 45 mph through that entire section of Route 61, but there are yellow warning signs for that curve, which is also known as “Deadman’s Curve,” and a suggested speed of 35 mph.
