Hyundai, Kia log 5 pct rise in U.S. sales last month: data - GlobalPost
2 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co. and its smaller affiliate Kia Motors Corp. The two South Korean auto giants sold a combined 130,909 cars in the United States last month, up 5 percent from a year earlier, according to their data. Hyundai Motor sold 72,012 cars in the U. S. last month, up 2. 9 percent from a year earlier, while Kia Motors saw its August sales there expand 7. 7 percent on-year to 58,897 units. Major models of Kia Motors posted rises in sales, with the Sportage, Sorento and Soul leading the growth. Kia Motors sold 5,749 Sportages and 10,211 Sorentos last month in the U. S. Sales of the Soul box-style car came to 17,108 units, up from the previous year's 15,069 units.
