Riding the momentum of its gold on home soil at the Toronto Pan American Games last month, the Canadian women’s basketball team is looking to take it to another level at the 2015 FIBA Americas Women’s Championship. 9-16 at Edmonton’s Saville Community Sports Centre and broadcast live on the TSN networks, earns an automatic berth in next summer’s Rio Olympics. Canada has only won Americas once, but finished second at the most recent championship in Mexico two years ago and has failed to medal in only three of 12 previous tournaments.
