Maryville man killed in car crash - Knoxville News Sentinel

Steven Earl Barks was pronounced dead at the scene after he lost control of his 2009 Kia Rio around 2:45 a. m. while negotiating a righthand curve, according to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office. Barks over-corrected into the left hand land, left the roadway and struck a fence. He then over-corrected his car back onto the roadway and according to witnesses made several attempts to regain control of the vehicle before running off the right side of the roadway, police said. His car then left the right side of the roadway near the 2100 block of Old Niles Ferry and struck a mailbox and a culvert, causing the vehicle to go airborne, roll counter-clockwise and strike a grass embankment on the south side of a driveway.
