Land Rover Discovery Sport launched in India at Rs 46.1 lakh - Business Standard

Tata Motors-owned British luxury brand Land Rover today launched the Discovery Sport in India at Rs 46. 1 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai, pre-octroi). The premium off-roader is the fifth model launched by Land Rover in India alongside four models already on sale from its sister brand Jaguar. The new Discovery Sport will come with a 2. 2 litre diesel engine generating peak power of 147 HP. The top-end version will come with 187 HP engine. The four cylinder engine can push the vehicle to clock its top speed of 180kmph for the base variant and 188 kmph for the top-end version. At that price the Discovery Sport will compete against the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Mercedes ML. The Discovery Sport borrows its design cues from more expensive models like Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Reports state that this new sports utility vehicle will replace Land Rover’s aging sibling Freelander 2. Land Rover’s last launch in India was a year ago when it launched the Freelander 2 Sterling Edition in September last year. Within five days of the opening bookings for the Discovery Sport more than 200 of it were booked, Jaguar Land Rover said in a statement released last month. Source: www.business-standard.com
