Burglary 1Silver coins, a $3,500 watch, a floor safe containing money and personal papers and a $140 Kindle Fire tablet were stolen from a locked residence in the 8900 block of South Chicago Road between 2 and 6:45 p. m. Aug. Damage to the door and frame is estimated at $750. The victims were attending their son's funeral when the burglary occurred, and some of the property belonged to their deceased son. 2A $700 Remington rifle with a slug barrel and scope, a $200. 22-caliber rifle, a $500 World War II rifle and a $300 Mosberg shotgun were stolen from a locked residence in the 9100 block of South Fifth Avenue between 6 and 10:25 p. m. Aug. Theft 3A $364 black Android cellphone was stolen from a customer at Woodman's, 8131 S. Howell Ave. , after he placed it in his shopping cart at about 4:20 p. m. Aug. Security video showed a passenger in a beige Lexus GX470 took the phone out of the cart. 4A woman was cited for shoplifting after she was seen concealing $204 worth of merchandise in her purse at Kohl's, 9035 S. Howell Ave. 5A blue Schwinn 21-inch men's bicycle was stolen at South Shore Cinema, 7261 S. 13th St. , between 4:45 and 8 p. m. Aug. 6Nail guns, a compressor and a generator were stolen from a locked trailer on a jobsite on South Chicago and East O'Brien roads between 7:30 p. m. Aug. 7A $27,000 Unitec car wash machine was stolen at Mobil Gas, 1200 W. Rawson Ave. 8Change boxes were stolen off four vacuum machines at Oak Creek Car Wash, 100 W.
