This week's test car -- the Lexus IS C -- is a recent addition to the retractable segment, rolling into showrooms for the first time in 2010. It's offered in two models, with two featured engines. The IS 250C has a 2. 5 liter, 204 horsepower V-6. The six can be paired with either a six speed manual or automatic transmission. The engine is capable of a 0-60 time of 8. 4 seconds, and EPA fuel economy estimates are 19/27 (manual), 21/30 (automatic). It's fitted with the 3. 5 liter V-8, and the larger Lexus engine can only be had with the six speed automatic. Power ratings are 306 horsepower and 277 lb. ft. of torque, which is good enough to push the 3,880 lb. 350C to 60 mph from a standstill in 5. 8 seconds.
