The French marque Alpine was known for some daring and speedy sports cars and racers from the 1950s on, then Renault took it over in 1973. The last Alpine was made in 1995, but Renault plans to revive it and has been fielding an LMP2 prototype in... As part of its new plan to sell a new sports car in the next year, it took some serious cues from past Alpine street cars and race cars and joined Vision Gran Turismo with a new Alpine Vision GT, done by Renault designer Victor Sfiazof. And like many of the other car companies whos creations race in the game, Alpine has created a full-size model now displayed at the Hôtel des Invalides in Paris before moving to the Rétromobile show. Veteran "Today Show" viewers will get a flashback of sorts during the Super Bowl when former NBC-TV morning news show anchors Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel drive an all-electric BMW i3 and relive an on-air boo boo. During the first quarter of NBC's broadcast of Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday, BMW's "Newfangled Idea" spot juxtaposes the famous 1994 "Today Show" clip of Couric and Gumbel showing confusion - "what is the internet.
