MT Then and Now: 1998, 1999, 2001, 2006, 2008, 2013 Lexus GS - MotorTrend Magazine
The 2nd and 3rd generations were the only two GS's I ever liked. The 3rd generation was definetely better-looking, but just wasnt as competitive against the 5-series and E-class as the 2nd generation was. The new, 4th generation looks disgusting on the exterior, but the interior looks cool and hopefully the car's features and dynamic traits will be improved enough to make up for that gross styling. I'm not against GM or for Lexus, but if your going to make an opinion. American car brands have only succeeded recently in mass producing cars rather than building them with quality. I hate the grille on the new GS more than anything. The way it bows inward on the sides just makes it look cheap and plasticy. The 1998-2005 Lexus GS is better looking by a long shot, and actually made more of a styling impact when it debuted than this new model will today, since it simply looks like a rehash of a few other japanese sedans currently on the market. At least the over stylized front is somewhat original looking, although it is a Japanese interpretation of Audi's got hit by an RPG round in the front look. Source: wot.motortrend.com
