Tomlinson, Rose debate shale, transportation funding - Bucks County Courier Times

Rose, of Northampton, hammered Tomlinson on his support for natural gas drilling, voter ID requirements and state funding for education. Tomlinson, in turn, repeatedly accused Rose of “absolute lies” and “nonsense. The incumbent defended his position on voter ID and legislation later overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The candidates also repeatedly sparred over Pennsylvania’s recent transportation funding bill. Rose called it “the highest tax that we are ever going to see in our lifetime in Pennsylvania. “You can’t criticize someone for voting for something and then say you’re going to spend the money anyway. If my opponent had voted against this, then we wouldn’t have the money to fix the bridges that are at risk of falling down. In campaign commercials and news conferences, Rose has repeatedly accused Tomlinson of supporting $1 billion in cuts to education. On Thursday, she conceded that those cuts resulted from federal stimulus money, which ran out. “There should have been plans to make sure that that money was put back,” she said Thursday. “She’s just going to attack, attack, attack,” he told the voters. Each supports raising the minimum wage, though Tomlinson suggested a special exemption for small business. Source: www.buckscountycouriertimes.com
