Man arrested after police pursuit - Hanford Sentinel

According to the Tulare County Regional Auto Theft Task Force, the Hanford Police Department located a black 1994 Mazda Protege around 4 p. m. Thursday that had been reported stolen out of Visalia. The task force said the Hanford department had seen the car being driven on 11th Avenue earlier that day and followed it to the residence. Right around the time the task force showed up, 26-year-old Hanford resident Dustin Lee and a 36-year-old woman entered the car, with Lee in the driver’s seat. Instead of stopping, Lee led the police on a one-mile pursuit through several Hanford residential streets, driving up to 60 mph. “The female passenger attempted to get out during the chase but the driver wouldn’t let her out,” said Chris Maselli, investigator with the task force. Maselli said the pursuit ended when the car accidentally collided with a parked car at Campus and Westwood drives. Task force members and HPD officers chased Lee on foot and were able to detain him after task force members used a stun gun on him. “She said she was simply getting a ride from the guy and didn’t know who Lee was or that the car was stolen,” he said.
